“The great thing about ophthalmology is that I help people preserve or enhance the precious gift of sight. I do this by providing quality eye-care backed by the experience and credentials you can count on.”

"I was born and raised here, so this has always been home to me and some of my most cherished memories. I knew I wanted to practice medicine in the Montgomery area to be able to give back to the community that had already given so much to me in friendship and support.  My patients know that this is where my heart is and that helps strengthen our relationship even more over the long term."

“Some conditions may simply require prescribing medication, while others may require more involved surgical procedures. Every treatment is different, and I’ve had the excellent training that’s prepared me for this challenge. Successful treatments, however, aren’t just about your training, they're also about building successful relationships with your patients. I take the time to listen to my patients, answer their questions and make the best recommendations for their needs.”

“Here at 20/20 Ophthalmic Associates, our goal is to provide you with the latest vision-improving technology delivered in a caring, attentive and personalized environment.  We believe clear vision with healthy, comfortable eyes is a necessity for the best quality of life possible.  Being able to give our patients this gift of better vision is the type of human contact that makes our practice so enjoyable.”

“As an eye care professional, it has been personally as well as professionally rewarding to enhance and protect the vision of so many Alabama residents.  I do this by staying at the forefront of the technological advances in ophthalmology, which have the potential to improve and safeguard sight to a degree never before possible.”

“My father, Frank C. Young, Jr., was an ophthalmologist who offered advanced eye care with a friendly touch. As a second-generation eye doctor, I practice my father’s same tenets and beliefs by providing patients with the highly compassionate care they deserve.”

Ricki D. Dobbs, OD, MD

For 43 years, 20/20 Ophthalmic Associates has been leading the way with progressive eye care for families and physicians in the Montgomery area.

In February of 1972 the founding physicians, Richard E. Brown, M.D. and Frank C. Young, Jr., M.D. moved the growing practice to its present location on Normandie Drive, which was just a dirt road when 20/20 constructed the first building on the street. Normandie Drive is now lined with numerous medical offices. Dr. Brown likes to say, "we paved the way for future medical care in Montgomery."

Harold A. Hatcher, M.D., joined Dr. Brown and Dr Young in 1976. Ten years later, in 1986, Ricki D. Dobbs, M.D., a native of Prattville, began practicing with the 20/20 team. In 1991 Dr. Brown retired and the practice gained another generation when Frank C. Young III, M.D. joined his father. They provided progressive eye care as a team until 1994 when Dr. Young, Jr. retired.
